Check this out folks: LEGO Gun

Let's not use our brains anymore, people. Let's create one rule that encompasses every possible scenario so we don't have to think for ourselves or excesise any common sense.

We'll call this rule "No Tolerance"

Already heard about it, really made me angry, I really do not like when people are put down over tiny things. I wish they were all homeschooled like me, so they wouldn't go through the bullying, slow studying periods, more bullying, not much time with their parents (makes you wonder why some teenagers are like the way they are), and minor mishaps that they are put down for. Now, with my condition, I would be drugged silly in a school, and I wouldn't be here today. And the authoritys are always right?!

I guess this is where life gets tough.
I agree it's ridiculous.

But then again, it seems like if you open up to any kind of adapting the rules to fit the situation, even minuscule like this, you open the door for corrupt people to use it unscrupulously.

I'm all about the intent of the law rather than the intent.

If you start allowing rules to not be followed as worded, lines will start to be blurred from both ends until you end up having to decide EXACTLY what constitutes crossing the line.
Today it's lego guns. Tomorrow it will be smaller toy guns trying to piggyback on that ruling.

Dang politicians and lawyers love to turn things into loopholes.

The letter of the law has said campaign finance reform isn't allowable (I never had a problem with it... the last thing we need is even more constant ads in my opinion, and more opportunities for companies to misrepresent candidates. People should have to speak for themselves). [of course, whether that was the justices following the letter of the law or their own derivation I'm not going into 8-)].

T1555, I am quite split on whether homeschooling is better than public/private schooling or not. I had a full mix of school quality in grade school going to public school. Now I teach at 2 homeschool coop private schools.
Both have hits and misses, and I've seen people fail and exceed pretty evenly at both. I've always tended to note the "in the world" aspect of Christianity [just important because the majority of homeschoolers are Christian]... but I also recognize there are absolutely unbearable numbers of weights and dangers on teenagers in public schools these days [I commonly wonder how I did actually make it through]. Public school tends to give students worldly, selfish attitudes and education tends to be overwhelmed by the drive to have fun (and/or laziness). Home school (and generally what I see of true private schools) tend to invoke pride and arrogancy and wind up with kids too focused on school [I'm a firm believer that too much work at being brainy, at "collecting" knowledge is a significantly bad thing]. Definitely agree public schools may not be able to give enough direct attention to people in special situations like yourself.
Public school is definitely more risk/reward. It's rare to find good teachers/schools, but if they hit on the right one, students really flourish.

Of course I'm being very broadbrushed in my judgments.
But it's always been a concept close to my heart.

Wow..... A tiny toy gun gets him suspended? I understand the whole toy gun thing if it were more life size, but a small gun like that? What is he gonna do with it? Stab someone in the eye? o_0 This is where things like this go too far.
