I will go ahead and declare ejbauers the winner of this year's contest, although I will wait until tomorrow to make the official announcement. Frodo Fox would have to get 390 points to beat him, and that just isn't going to happen today. It's been sort of a strange contest this year, but I hope you all have enjoyed it and plan to return next year!

One new rule I am contemplating for next year is something to either require or encourage people to participate at least once per week. This would help ensure that everyone continues to participate throughout the contest, even when wintry weather is scarce. What are your thoughts on that idea?

VB Location List for Sunday, February 28:
FLG Frodo Fox
FLG wxblaster

Kevin - THANK YOU again for doing an impeccable job running the VB! I sadly wish I had remembered (stayed awake?) on 1 or 2 key days to have kept in the running. I coulda been a contender....

As for making the change, I say leave it as is. There is a bunch of strategy with picking the right 30 days to score on. I would maybe consider upping the 31 or more day bonus, sliding scale of bonus points going down in value from day 31-40 then kicking in the .5 point bonus after that. I think that would get more folks in on a marginal day, or offer some insurance if a VB'er banks on an LES event that misses or something like that.

Congrats to ejbauers! Well done!

I'm not sure I fully understand your "sliding scale" idea (can you be more specific?), but I probably will up the bonus points again. Last year I did just a .1 point bonus, which didn't accomplish anything. I think upping it to .5 points this year was a move in the right direction, but upping it to a full point may be even better. I'll have to do some calculating on that.

You never know, they could get a "fishy" storm in Flagstaff and total up like 60" :-p

I like some sort of idea to encourage weekly participation. Maybe a point for each week forecasted in?
Then again, always gotta work on that KISS deal biggrin.gif

Enjoyed it, and as always you did a great job Kevin. Congrats to the winners smile.gif
